Meet Fall Festival of the Arts Juror, Diane Krempa…

Art making is an essential and integral component of Diane Krempa’s life and being, weaving itself intricately into the very fabric of her existence. It encapsulates not only what she perceives but also how she reacts to the vast world around her, and these personal insights have profoundly informed the art that she creates with passion and dedication.

Diane firmly believes that she possesses an “impressionist core,” as she is irresistibly drawn to the captivating mysteries of light—how it is perceived and experienced in countless, often wondrous ways within nature and in our everyday living, as it delicately casts shadows and highlights on various objects and scenes. She is able to find beauty everywhere, even in the intriguing allure of building ruins that tell their own silent stories.

Diane Krempa’s primary medium is watercolor, yet she has been enthusiastically exploring the rich possibilities of collage and has a deep passion for thematic exploration through mixed media. The creative possibilities seem endless, encompassing a wide array of diverse color themes and subject matter, and she derives immense joy from drawing and painting not only the human figure but also various elements of the natural world that inspire her.

Her favorite question to ask is the thought-provoking "What If," a simple yet profound inquiry that sparks the inspiration for a new series to emerge—each new piece continuously informs what will transpire in her next artwork. Nature serves as her ever-inspiring muse, and she fervently wishes to expand upon those glorious moments that have struck her deeply and profoundly, ultimately aiming to record her personal Impressions of beauty that she finds throughout the world around her.
