About Us

Keeping Local Arts Alive!

Creative Art Society (CAS) is a non-profit educational art club (501(c)4 comprised of members who are artistically-focused individuals. We are artists, teachers, collectors, and just lovers of art, in general. We enjoy learning and promoting visual arts and the creative process. CAS Members are: Artists from beginners to award-winning visual artists; Art educators of all art mediums and educational levels; and Art Collectors of local and regional art. Our primary interest has been in helping to keep local arts alive in the Downriver Metro-Detroit area. As a member-supported organization, we are always interested in providing and receiving art education and are proud to offer annual visual art scholarships to Downriver area high school and college students.

Expanding Our Horizons:
With the resurgence of interest in the vibrant local art scene throughout Southeastern Michigan, Creative Art Society hopes to expand our connection to serve multiple Michigan counties including Hillsdale, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Wayne (Detroit Metro and Downriver areas), and Washtenaw. All visual art lovers at all levels of interest and artistic experience are encouraged to join Creative Art Society. Find out more about CAS membership.

A Message from the President of Creative Art Society

Hello,

I am looking forward to my new role as president and will do my best to keep moving us forward. My goal is to recruit new members to join CAS and to keep promoting the arts and artists.

I want to thank Maureen Keast for the great job she has done. Under her leadership, our membership has increased. We have had many new and exciting venues to display our art and we always have great art demonstrations at our meetings.

To keep this club moving forward we need to continue to work together. The idea of sharing responsibility for the various offices is a good way for everyone to learn and have some fun. I want to say welcome to the new officers who will be joining us this new year and I look forward to working with you.

Thank you,

Jackie Walock

President, Creative Art Society

About Creative Art Society

In 2018, two Downriver arts organizations, the Downriver Arts & Crafts Guild and Art Ambience merged to form the Creative Art Society. The Downriver Arts & Crafts Guild (active since 1956), provided local members a social setting to exchange art ideas, techniques, and information about current art trends in the Downriver area for over 60 years.

Today’s Creative Art Society continues to promote and serve artists and students of all mediums. As a non-profit, 501(c)(4) organization, the Creative Art Society is an established visual and fine arts club, encouraging the fostering of friendships through membership emphasizing continued artistic growth. Stressing the value and importance of art in our community and throughout our world, CAS produces and hosts the Art Ambiance in the Spring in Woodhaven, MI, and the Fall Festival of the Arts in Wyandotte, MI each year. Supporting artists around Wayne County and the Downriver area, the Creative Art Society aims to foster the appreciation of art and artistic growth for its members and supporters.
